Locked up in My House with Anxiety and Panic...

 

I suffered from overwhelming anxiety for almost 20 years. It got so bad that all the panic attacks, social anxiety, and generalized anxiety caused me to lock myself up in my house, afraid to leave and wanting to die to stop the pain of living. Death seemed better than life because life with anxiety was so painful and fearful for me. What was the worst was the hopelessness, wanting to be free and being trapped with no apparent escape.

I'll tell you more of my story in a minute... I want you to know that I can related to how you're feeling because I lived in that dark tunnel of anxiety for many years! What you're feeling is real. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

  • You can't ever get over anxiety. You'll have to live with it MYTH

And, like a fool I believed them. So for almost 20 years I suffered alone. Maybe you have too. Overwhelming anxiety and panic ARE 100% Real… They are serious, common, and can affect ANYONE.

Almost 20 Years in the Dark Tunnel...

Anyway, I got off track... back to my story. :)

I'd Go to Bed in Tears Most Nights....

I was stuck in the vise-like grip of anxiety - living half a life. My body was a wreck (from experiencing dozens of overwhelming physical symptoms every day), my mind was constantly stuck in a treadmill of obsessive thoughts, and I avoided most people, places, and situations in a futile attempt to avoid my anxiety, because I was so afraid of feeling anxious.

I would go to bed in tears most nights, because I didn't know what to do, or how to feel better.

Out of frustration I sought advice from nutritionists, doctors, psychologists, and natural healers. I read countless books and research studies. I studied personal development and anxiety courses. I tried it all.

Knowing "About" Anxiety Wasn't Enough... What Do I DO?

What I discovered, as you've probably figured out too, is that most books and programs focused on telling me WHY I felt anxious - instead of showing me how to feel better. They gave me theory - but not real help.

"I've dealt with anxiety pretty much all my life, just didn't realize it until about 2001 – 2002 actually when I had several major life events kind of happening at the same time. You know, with a new child on the way, a new house, a new job; my father was having some health problems and I left the country for the first time in my life. And it was, you know, half way around the world to Singapore and - 2002 – this is shortly after 9/11, so there's still a lot of fear there of terrorist attacks and that sort of thing, especially being out of the country. So when all that kind of piled up on me at the same time it just kind of pushed me over the edge, you know, anxiety, stress wise, and that's when I realized, you know, I had a problem.

Whenever I would have panic attacks, which is basically the pinnacle of anxiety, is you know, I would deal with tingling arms and numbing sensations and dizziness and chest pains and feeling weak and obsessive thoughts. I thought I was having a heart attack, even though logically, there was no reason for me to feel like I was having a heart attack. I'd been checked out by the doctor and so forth and there's no health reasons to think I was having a heart attack but I felt like I was having one nonetheless and really believed I was, and I was in Singapore at the time, so it was really a frightening experience for me. So – as a matter of fact, I ended up having to cut my business trip short to come home because of all of these symptoms, thinking I was dying. And so, you know, the obsessive thoughts they just keep coming and they're racing one right up to the other and you feel like you can't stop them.

I really couldn't cope with life. I didn't want to go anywhere; I had difficulty driving, difficulty performing my job. It was really scary just to get out of the house a lot. And so, you know, being in settings like church or a party or a meeting at work or anything like that was just extremely difficult for me.

When I had my first series of panic attacks for the first time in my life I, of course, began to research the Internet. Being that I'm a computer guy, that's the first place I went to try and find solutions for overcoming the anxiety that I'd been dealing with and the panic attacks. And after trying what the doctors had said and it not working or it just wasn't working for me, didn't click, I searched the Internet for natural solutions and came across the Conquer Anxiety Web site and read through the Web site and read through Deanne's story and how that she had been able to conquer anxiety; and through lots of research learn techniques and so forth to help her to overcome it, and then reading testimonies of other people who had used the program – I purchased the program and began to put the techniques into practice.

I've been able to apply these techniques and overcome, you know, stresses and pressures in life and be able to handle the load of having four children and a wife and running a television network and owning two business and being a musician and being on stage in front of people and things like that.
